TTPD first impressions

 Hi hi it is 8:52 PM and we are EIGHT MINUTES AWAY FROM HISTORY, The Tortured Poet's Department is coming out. I can't really say "i can't wait" because I wasn't necessarily excited or looking forward to it cuz i was prob stressed this entire week about housing and stuff but anyway i will be listening to the full album and giving me first impressions, i believe its 1 hr long around total added up.

This feels like im entering a codeforces contest with the countdown LOL and just waiting.

But for real ok so I'm expecting a pop album pretty much, with some sad songs sprinkled in. There were tons of random teasers on twitter that she released and I'm getting the vibe that album will be very mature and sonically cohesive. Everything ties to a theme in this album. That's my prediction. Initially I thought it would be similar to Folklore and Evermore but those 2 are labeled alternative while TTPD is labeled pop. So that's good ig, hopefully it's not like those two albums because i love her pop stuff the most.

I'm definitely most excited for Fortnight with Post Malone, the music video comes out tomorrow and its like the "lead single" for this album. Other than that I'm interested to see what the title track is about. Lots of these tracks are very elaborate, detailed, unique, descriptive. 

Yeah idk what other thoughts I have left there's 3 minutes left now uhhhh man this is actually kinda crazy that she's releasing a new album its starting to hit me now. Like I have to rank this now among the others. Wow I"m not sure where this will end up, maybe better than like Lover and Speak Now? but those two albums are really really solid too but like man idk yea i would say this album could make it to the top 5? We got like fearless, 1989, reputation, and yeah those last two spots can be taken by lover/speak now/debut/TTPD idkidkidkdikddidkdidkd.

   Wow this is not seeming like pop at all. Ohhhhh that prechorus is catchy. It's subtle.
   
   These isntrumentals remind me of Midnights. Maybe it's like a bridge being the first song from Midnights
   
   Oh yeah taht prechorus wasn't even the prechorus it was the chorus.
   
   OMG THAT "I LOVED, YOU" rhythm is exactly the same rhythm as "i love you... for giving me your eyes" from best day. Legit the same run and rhythm thats funny.
   
   Hmmm this song was not upbeat but its not bad I definitely like it. It's a very unique vibe, I wish Post Malone got more lines. It's a great song i think it will end up in my top 3 songs of this album.

   This sounds like midnights but I like the drums. Great hook. OMG THIS SOUNDS LIKE IS IT OVER NOW? FROM 1989 THE VAULT. THIS LEGIT SOUNDS LIKE THAT VAULT TRACK. 
   
   Wow I've never heard this type of structure and melody from Swift. That interval is SPICY I love this song just for that interval OMG THIS BRIDGE IS SO GOOD

   This melody sounds like a chainsmokers melody. It just strays and clings onto 3 notes. I like it. 
   
   WOAH WHAT IS THIS TEMPO CHANGE WOAHHH ITS SUBTLE FADING OUT TOO. These lyrics prob mean a lot but I have NOT been paying attention LOl im ngl this melody is very goofy in this song, very memorable tho. I don't think I've ever heard this type of melody from Taylor before. Same case for that other song with that interval thingy I forgot hwich one it was ohokok next song is up

   Hmmm very explosive. Very artistic. OHHHH I LIKE THIS FEATURE A LOT THIS ARTIST VOCALS ARE REALLY SOOTHING IN THESE INSTRUMENTALS.

ALRIGHT AND WITH THAT we have finished listening to the album. It is 10:13 so 1 HOUR AND 13 MINUTES LATER. MAN. 

THOUGHTS THOUGHTS THOUGHTS

Very sonically cohesive just all throughout even that one upbeat song had that tint to it with the progression and just how she set things up.

That second half of the album is VERYYYY mid. I didn't really listen too deeply of course but wow its a ton of Midnights track.

overall this album exceeded my expectations I will say confidentally especially just from "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart" man that track is incredible THANK YOU. Well right off the bat this is better than Midnights, Evermore, Folklore, probably debut, probably red, maybe lover, maybe speak now but idk. Around like 70% of the songs were not my type so it's hard to put it above any others right now after this first listen.

Well, yeah I don't know what else to say man. That post malone collab was kinda underwhelming tbh, but I'm just so glad we got that track "I CAN DO IT WITH ABROKEN HEART" I thought we would go this entire album without hearing anything upbeat.

This was also like a vintage blog post with the brain dump unedited stuff and it def feels good to write like this. Wow nothing else to say
