3UROTRIP Part 2: Studying Abroad

Part 1 and Background: link From LIT-131G Journal Entry #4: Wilson Xie LIT-141G Gomez-Rivas 24 July 2024 Journal Entry 4 I went into this program a month ago not knowing any expectations, and I was very caught off guard in the beginning when I realized how excluded I was from the group. I was the youngest, just finishing my 1st-year while most of the group were just finishing 3rd-years or even 4th-years. I was also the only STEM major among the group and one of 2 Asian students. It was hard to find similarities as many of my classmates had different backgrounds and interests; I didn’t have any comfort zones, I was in a foreign country with a foreign household, living with a roommate that I’ve never met before. There were some moments where I was really scared and wondered what the next few weeks would look like.  However, everything turned around, and I realized the true beauty of seeking discomfort. I follow a YouTube channel ‘Yes Theory’ where their whole brand and motto is about “se

Freshmen spring quarter roundup!

Here we are at the end of my first year at UCSC. Crazy to think about, it definitely was a long year, it feels like I was in high school playing basket random in Ekstrom a while ago. Definitely didn't blow by when I look at it. Let's get into this post. The last month of the quarter there were some really big  protests  on campus where classes went online and things were pretty crazy.  References: freshmen winter quarter freshmen fall quarter Academics I took 3 classes this quarter:  - Writing 2  - AM 30 (Multivar for engineers)  - CSE 13S (Computer Systems and C Programming) People gas up CSE 13S to be a super hard class and that may be the case but I had professor Rudnick and with him that class was soooo easy. But anyway because I was scared I supplemented CSE 13S with AM 30, a required course for my major, and Writing 2, a required writing class that I want to get out the way. I was thinking about taking a 4th class but I didn't necessarily have anything in mind. My co

Hello, so after saying that I will push back my June album/EP reviews to the July post, I found the time to review like 4-5 albums in one day lmao IM CRAZY LIKE THAT. You can now see it under the new section "7/8 UPDATE": https://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2024/07/june-new-edm-2024.html For reference, here's a copy of the changelog I added: Albums/EPs  6/13 =  Reel Me In  - Codeko  - Here's a short 3-track EP from Codeko featuring rather laid-back vocal melodic house tracks. What instantly jumps out to me is how catchy the lead to "So High" is, that lead just instantly wins especially with how the production is set up around it. Love the progression in that track. The other two in the EP are similar in production and energy but don't reach the heights of "So High" Rating = 6/10 Favorite Tracks = "So High" 6/21 =  The Secret of Us  - Gracie Abrams  - I don't think I've ever listened to a Gracie Abrams song but she is featuring Taylor
