Why the Chainsmokers' synth breaks are complete utter trash. | Rant

Every since the Chainsmokers went off for hit after hit during the EDM phase of pop. Afterwards, they've been a wonder.

John Fassold made a great video about the Chainsmokers structure when it comes to their songs, but he deleted his channel. A reuploaded video by some random user can be found here.

I'll talk about what that guy didn't talk about: THeir synth breaks.

Although Fassold went over it, his synth breaks are usually digital synths with steps. It's so simple and I have no idea why some people enjoy them. Besides the synth, there is only a single bassline with a synth in the background. The only respectable part of the synth break is a transition.

The synth is so bland with no pan. It hurts my ears to hear because of the scratchiness.

Another really popular song that for some reason a heck ton of asian middle school boys seem to enjoy is Something Just like This.

I see no difference in terms of structure and just the overall tone, except for the singer. I seem to assume that people only enjoy this song because of the male voice, preferred over female for some eccentric reason.

The only catchy part of the song is the "doo doo doo" with falsetto, but I see it as a voice crack.

Plus, the doo doo doo is already a traditional melody, as it's just three notes with a margin of a whole step. It's legit hot cross buns but going up, mary had a little lamb going up. It annoys me to hear comments about how this tone is "lit" and "fire" when it's copied from a 5-year old nursery rhyme. Now is it "lit"?

Coldplay sings with no attitude and is not driven for any apparent reason. The only part of the song that doesn't get me to fall asleep is when he reaches a low note, a trick that coldplay has used over and over again.

The synth break is worse now. The same synth with no hollow feeling and a beat... FUDGING NOTHING ELSE.

It's so simplistic, and some may argue "WELL SOMETIMES SIMPLE IS AWESOME"

I saw to them shut your fudging mindless mouth before you claim that after saying how the "doo doo doo" part was so creative and especially the side melody in the end.

Well guess what, that side melody is the same melody from the verse, but put into an electric guitar. Therefore it is not a side melody.

"ITS CATCHY"

If that's catchy then legit mary had a little lamb is also catchy, and so is every single other chainsmokers song.

The Chainsmokers also have horrible lyrics with no depth and just talks about a hard breakup or simply just stupid.

They have a horrible reputation in terms of personal life, with one known to cheat while the others being known to post toxic things on twitter, then claiming it was a hacker, to come to realize that he screwed up and admitting that it was him.

I enjoyed a bit of The Chainsmokers from Don't let me Down, as it was vibrant. It was not simple, and The Chainsmokers tried things out and I could tell it took effort, something Closer lacks. Now they are a money hungry group that wants to get back when they are a wonder, after creating a stupid, simple tune for money. Adam Levine and Maroon Five is now learning off of them, creating a corrupt radio full of latin music and dominated by Post Malone, who creates catchy tunes and spams to steal your money. These days I cannot even turn to the radio, because of how fruitless it is finding a station that is legit.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Might want to credit Andrew Huang lol
Their songs aren't really original or complex, but that doesn't mean they copied from the nursery rhymes. It's just a very basic melody, so it's probably a coincidence. Andrew Huang probably just recognized this coincidence.

That being said, they are weirdly popular despite their basic techniques. Well, that's what's catchy to people, I guess. Kinda like your other rant about Post Malone.
