Halloween Spirit Run 2021

Image
2019 -   http://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2019/10/halloween-spirit-run.html It's been two years since I entered a race. I forgot how fun these are.  This one was at alameda fairgrounds instad of downtown, and there were so many more booths and so many more people. When I got there at 8:10(the race started at 8:30), there waws a guy leading the pack of ppl in stretching, but i didnt really care. After waiting for a while, we headed towards the S/F line at around 8:25. There were around 663 racers this year compared to 448 in 2019. The starting/finishing timing chip in your bib was the same from 2019. and 3...2...1...GO MILE 1: I started off by listening to JJ Redick's podcast episode with Gabrielle Union and then after a solid 5 minutes I was legit so bored. That conversation was so stale LOL. So then I went to Thybulle's interview and there was some nice things. Anyway, mile 1 went pretty well. My plan was to go at a comfortable pace the first 4 miles. MILE 2: I think we moved d

My homework situation

So Junior year is supposed to be the hardest year right? People picture a restless person studying up until 2 AM for their exams or just doing homework. Paired along with SAT, it sounds like h*ll. Not for me.  A: Band. Literally no homework other than the occasional flipgrid 1: AP Lang. Literally no hw 80% of the time because my teacher is really nice. Benbenek made me realize that there's a "perfect" way to teach AP Lang. Of course we do hvae FRQ assessments and paragraph writings, but in general this is a very light class so far. Very grateful I got Benbenek. 2: AP Physics. My hardest class. I spend the most time on AP Physics. There's homework pretty much everyday, and honestly it's not that much. Like 5-8 textbook quesitons. When tests come around, I do have to commit more time to Physics. However, it's super light compared to what I was expecting, which was a homework load similar to AP Calc BC 3: US History. Literally a joke. I have pretty much the easi

Driver's License

LETSGOOOOOOOOO Today at like 10:20 AM, I left campus to take my driving test at 11:00 AM.  I brought all the documents I need to bring and felt very prepared. The day before, I practiced the route with my dad and also looked over where to park. I chose the stoneridge DMV because I heard that it's significantly easier/shorter than the other DMV. The test itself was pretty smooth. I'm really proud of myself for maintaining a good speed under the speed limit and my lane switches were very decisive and controlled. Right off the bat on the right turn where I exit the mall I forgot to stop on the red light -_- The thing is that it's literally a habit for me to stop behind the line and then roll over, but I was just that nervous. After I realized i f***ed up, I just told myself to not think about it. The rest was great, I was just super consistent and honestly just drove really good all-around. I ended up with 5 minor errors, once it reaches 15 then it's considered a fail. T

Random Thoughts #2

Remember back when I posted "brain dumps?" Think of this as a rebrand of that lol. https://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2021/10/simulation-by-vr-album-review.html I'm SO SORRY TO REWRITE!!! IM SO SORRY!!!! After listening to simulation for another like two weeks, I have a deeper appreciation for rewrite. The new top 5 ranking should be: This Could Be Us Exile Back in Time Get Away Rewrite Yes, Back In Time moved up two spots, chroma moved down two spots. Get Away moved down one spot. The second drop in Back in Time is just so well-designed and it's just so creative. The ripples and echo-chops is truly brilliant. I cannot stress this enough. The vocal chop transition from drop -> verse in Rewrite is SO GOOD, the melody is SO CATCHY and just so good, I don't know how one can craft a melody like that. It's simplistic, yes. But the melody is...wow Don't worry is an interesting song. I love the hook, but the dubstep is too much for me to handle. It's an absolu

10/20 BREAKOUT DAY

It's 5:45 PM and I've been cubing for like the second hour straight. I listened to the latest episode of pull up by cj mcollum and now I'm just listening to my go-to playlist.  I ABSOLUTELY POPPED OFF ON 3X3 I don't know who my drug dealer is, I don't know why drugs I took... Pentapping pt. 2

PT 1:  https://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2020/05/pentapping.html I've been pentapping for like a year now. Here's an update. As I learned new techniques and drum loops, my rhythm and coordination grew. I started having so much fun with my beats. Pentapping is just so fun/addicting in general. Today, I can now say that I'm like really good at this. I know so many drum loops and I can incorporate triplets into my beats seamlessly. Overall, the beats are just getting fire. As I'm getting more advance, practicing pentapping becomes less and less effective. I have to look at other people(lenstrumental, shane bang) and observe their beats/technique. This can be very hard sometimes if they zoomed out on their hands or if the beat is super fast. I really wonder how lenstrumental reached his level. He had nothing to refer to. He must've been lost at times, just jamming away aimlessly trying to create a new beat. I don't have proud recordings within reach, the closest one is t

Ranking geometry dash levels

I started playing geometry dash in like 8th grade. I began by beating Press Start  in the SubZero app, which took 700 tries. I didn't know what the use of practice mode was LOL. I grinded that so much during disneyland lm*o. Anyway, here I am now. I play during school if I have time, and I've comfortably beaten electrodynamyx. Next up are the demons. Letter to open in 2 years REACTION

Dear 15 or 16 year old Wilson,      How are you doing? As a 13 year old right now, I'm really nervous about the schoolwork that I will soon have to face in high school. I have a lot of questions for you. How good am I at basketball? What's my FT%? Can I hit threes? Am I stronger? Can I finally hit hook shots? What about one handed floaters?      How is school doing? How are my grades? Is math hard? Am I reading enough? How's prince doing? How's marching band? Am I good at mellophone yet? Have I gotten into serious trouble? Am I still really short? Are my braces off? Do I have contacts? Did I lose my phone or anything? Am I fat?      Can I solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded? What's my PB for every event? 13 yr old you had a PB of 14.3. How big is your cube collection? Did you quit? If you did, it's fine but try it again!      Are you doing drugs????? If you are somehow doing drugs, know that the 13 year old you would be extremely disappointed, as you are wast

2020 last.year

Image
I kinda ditched this blog during November 2020 and came back to it for like a week in April 2021. During that period I missed the annual last.year review. Well, now it's October 2021 and I guess I'll review 2020's last.year LOL https://www.last.fm/user/wizwilzo/listening-report/year That URL probably updates annually so I'll accompany this post with the images. This is the overview. You can conclude that NIVIRO absolutely dominated, most notably  Fast Lane  and  Dancin' . Those two tracks are STILL in my playlist 10 months later, I'll never get tired. Fast Lane is such an emotional track, especially the synth break. The two note contrasts just blend so well with the iconic NIVIRO synth pads. Dancin' is an upbeat track that features the catchy "I'm only thinking about..... dancing." That phrase is so catchy and it's such a banger track in general. I won't go in-depth. Other than that, you can see that I discovered Virtual Riot. Owl City,

Simulation by VR album review

Virtual Riot released new music like a month ago, he dropped numerous teasers on his YouTube channel and hyped it up deservingly.  From the teasers, I was expecting less melodic and more dubstep. I was right. I also expected color bass and honestly not much. Prolific amounts of EQ and sound design in his breaks. But this album was FIRE. The intense drops and breaks were contrasted with slow bridges. The upbeat verses were very well-done. I'm not going to review every individual song, but rather my top 5 favorite. There were some songs I wish I could include (rip rewrite) but this album is just too stacked. Hyperlinks are in YouTube btw :D 5.  Back In Time - Virtual Riot, Angelika A very upbeat and beautiful song that doesn't have any intensity. There's not much to say about this besides the very authentic presets. This is very classic Virtual Riot -> digital synths, casual vocals, vocal chops, synth pads, arpeggios, and last but not least.... melodic synth breaks. 0% dub
