TOP 5 ARTISTS, 2021!!!

2018 version It's been 3 years! Glad to see I still love EDM. Let's see how my taste evolved... I just want to say I wish I could include everyone here: Glacier, Grant, Ellis, Axol, Elephante, Tritonal, Daft Punk, Culture Code, Retrovision, Elektronomia, Porter Robinson, San Holo, Hyper Potions, Zedd, Halvorsen, Diamond Eyes, MDK Those artists right there basically encompass my entire EDM taste. Outside of EDM is a whole different subject. FULL OF TALENT. NCS has progressed a lot into glitch hop and progressive house ever since and Virtual Riot introduced me to the world of melodic dubstep. The complexity within straight growls and transformations in the drops, finalized by beautiful, powerful, fulfilling chords. There's so much creativity in melodic dubstep.  Here are my top 5 favorite artists currently and the songs from them that I thoroughly enjoy. I offer more analysis as I get closer and closer to my favorite. 5. Stessie Bloom Atmosphere Candy Heart - BLOOD CODE Fre

12-15-21 NBA ACTION

I haven't been watching much NBA lately but I have been keeping up with just the general news/highlights on twitter.  However, today was just a crazy day. Yesterday Stephen Curry broke the ALL-TIME NBA 3-point record count. That guy is just insane and somehow he gets better every year. Without him the Warriors would be such a poverty team lol. ISAIAH THOMAS G-LEAGUE DEBUT - After bouncing around numerous teams after his back injury and getting traded from the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas has been fighting for a chance back on the NBA lights for the past like two years. He made a big step today scoring 42 pts, 8 ast, 6 rb with 53% fg. Although he kind of ruined the Cavs, I will always remember watching his debut for the cavs after a long-awaited return from his injury. He sunk a three and I started screaming "isaiah! isaiah!"  highlights His G-league teammate Lance Stephenson(NBA vet) scored a triple double too. OVERTIME THRILLER IN DALLAS  - SO MANY THINGS TO TALK ABOUT. Offe

band update

I just got rejected from NCBA. I honestly knew this would happen as I didn't start recording until like 4 days before the deadline. After I submitted all my recordings, I thought I did pretty well honestly. I thought I had a solid chance but I had that doubt inside. Well turns out the doubt was right.  I never really practiced horn that much. I take it home like twice a week. I have lessons biweekly. During wind auditions, I'm motivated to practice daily consistently.  Other than the sad news, let's talk about YPSO. I wanted to make a post about this a while ago but I felt that I didn't belong. I'll explain. YPSO is a youth orchestra. I've always wanted to join one of them because it's pretty cool. YPSO is also pretty like high-quality. AKA it's a semi-serious band. So when I auditioned (around like two months ago?), it was already two weeks into the season. They were on a shortage of horns (there was only 1 horn player and they need 5). So basically I

Update on the random posts thing

So this Sunday I went to the library and it took me like 2 hours around to finish it. I definitely learned a lot about APIs and just basic like programming lm*o. But yea, I created a program that utilizes the blogger API to generate an array of URLs for every blog post. I cannot leak that program because the source code contains my blogID and userID. Confidential information.  However, I can convert the array itself into a txt file and just do it that way. It won't update everytime but on the other hand the array doesn't need to be filled everytime you run something.  So yea repl isn't going to be final product ofc. During winter break I'm going to try to get it into a website so that you can't see the source code. Hopefully my sister helps me with that. I'm pretty excited, I've had this idea in my mind quite literally since I started this blog. San Holo - bb u ok? // album review

Image
So San Holo released a new album on June 7th, and it's taken me 5 months to find out... I used to loop his music so much in 2018-2019, from Light to We Rise to brighter days, to Fly to lift me from the ground. He's incredible at vocal production and melodies. His music is very upbeat, and I'm SUPER excited to check this album out.  I still remember being at the gym and hearing Light. The vocals and melody absolutely blew me away and stopped me. I didn't have time to shazam it... Then I hear it again a week later. I make no time to open up predownloaded shazam, and I see Light by San Holo. Then at home I search him up and this is where my love for San Holo started. 20 tracks. i am thinking of you  - The 90 second intro to the track. Just a beautiful sensation that I would love to enjoy on a long carride. The resolution after these lifts are BEAUTIFUL. THE RESOLUTION IS SO AMAZING, ITS THE SATISFACTION EVERYONE NEEDS. Man. And it transitions to the next track, which is:

Blog Updates (12-11-21)

Image
After I returned to this blog like two months ago, there are some outdated things.  One thing is that I have pages on this blog: I turned FAQs and About me into drafts. I felt like as I've grown, those pages were foolish lol.  I'm going to probably take out my pinned post, "Is this my story?" too. The details in that post are also outdated.  So rip :( I do have good news. I've always wanted to make a program that can output a random post from this blog. It's possible to just put every single blog post URL in an array and do random.choice(), but then I need to add a URL to that array everytime I make a new post, and initially getting those 430+ posts is very annoying. Instead I'm looking into beautifulsoup. I could finish this "project" as soon as this weekend. It could also be tricky. Who knows.  Lyric(s) of the Post:  Look here I don't ask for much You know what I want Fly As Me - Silk Sonic

Spotify Wrapped 2021

Image
Was really excited when it came out. It comes out every Dec. 1st, and this time they had a lot more stats. I remember back when there were like 4 slides and that would be all. They also seemed to adopt the trend of instagram story formatting to present it, which I believe was stolen from a Spotify employee. Corporations love to abuse ideas without giving credit :( I was very surprised that there wasn't a NIVIRO song on here. Either Fast Lane or Dancin. After checking, I'm pretty sure Fast Lane was #6. I didn't know I listened to Kuyenda and Here Right now that much.  But Thunderstruck and Make Me Move are too easy. They've been in my top 3 songs for like 3 years in a row. They will likely be in my top 3 next year too. I will never get sick of it. I'm pulling this up whenever someone says I only listen to dubstep. People generalize EDM into dubstep too much. Just look at this. Not sure what this means without any reference. What's the average amount of genres?

Road to sub 4 || Ep. 1

Image
Welcome to Episode 1 of   Road to Sub 4 ! This could be the last episode. Let's hope it isn't. Throughout recent posts, I've mentioned sometimes that I really want a skewb podium. If I'm cubing, 99% of the time I'll be doing skewb. I have over 3,000 recorded solves in this one session since 10-20. When I'm bored, I used to default to YouTube where I would waste an unhealthy amount of time. I moved this habit into cubing and the results are coming in. Let's talk about the PBs in this list. All of these except for ao50 and ao100 are PBs which is kinda weird but like it's whatever. I had a sub 1 single. Literally the craziest thing, it's just shear luck lol.  http://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2021/11/11-22-21-skewb-new-pb-single.html 0.91% of my solves were DNFs. Over 3,000 solves... this was by far the most I've grinded skewb. That's roughly 100 solves a day although it's been more than a month.  Here is the time trend graph. Just look at that

Turkey Trot/Burn run 11-25-21

Image
So at the Halloween run this year, there was a flyer for the Turkey Trot run which they mentioned was lower budget without timing. I decided why not. It's another chance to find some pacemakers and potentially go for a PB. And that's exactly what happened. It cost like 5 dollars and the shirt was optional, another indicator that this race wasn't as serious. It was still legit, there were booths with cool stuff. Just no placing/podiums. This time it was the Ken Mercer Sports park. Still hosted by Pleasanton rotary.  This was the bib. And the optional shirt that I bought cuz why not it's a limited-edition souvenir. I actually saw some people I knew. A lot of the people on the Amador cross country team came out because they barely missed the state qualifying tournament thing. It's unfortunate. I also convinced josh, ashwin, and allen. Allen didn't come because he's sick :( And 3.2.1....GO Mile 1: I opened up Old Man and the Three and checked out the most recen

11-13-21 Leetcode Contest /// Weekly Contest 267

Every week there's a leetcode contest with 10,000 participants. It consists of interview-style questions and I do them when I can. Today, everything went right for me.  https://leetcode.com/contest/weekly-contest-267/ranking/2/ RANK 46. Completed the contest in 31 minutes with 0 bugs.  QUESTION 1: Oddly confusing problem statement for a question 1 but the constraints are always super loose so any sort of brute force will work and that's what I did. I should've done Q1 in Python like I always do but I forgot. That may have cost me some time. QUESTION 2: As soon as I see LinkedList I immediately know to code-golf this one. I immediately converted it to a list and manipulated it easily like that and converted it back. This is a contest where ranking > learning. Sorry! QUESTION 3: A pretty straightforward implementation String question. I was lucky to not make any stupid bugs and got AC first try.  QUESTION 4: After reading it, I immediately knew this was an easy UnionFind

2021 NBA season predictions

Is it too late for this? I should've done this earlier LOL. It's been around 2 seasons since the NBA season kicked off. Already we're questioning who will play first: Kyrie or Ben? Both are in very dramatic and quite passionate scenarios. I'm gonna skip All-nba predictions cuz I honestly don't care. PART 1: ALL-STARS EAST Coach: Erik Spoelstra  Captain: Giannis Antetokounmpo Starters: PG = Collin Sexton  Trae Young (if kyrie doesn't have a normal season) SG = James Harden SF = Kevin Durant PF = Giannis Antetokounmpo C = Joel Embiid Bench: Jimmy Butler Bam Adebayo DeMar DeRozan Bradley Beal Jayson Tatum Collin Sexton Kyrie Irving (if he doesnt play then Zach Lavine) WEST Coach: Quin Snyder Captain: LeBron James Starters: PG = Stephen Curry SG = Luka Doncic SF = LeBron James PF = Kawhi Leonard C = Nikola Jokic Reserves: Donovan Mitchell Ja Morant Devin Booker Paul George Russell Westbrook Anthony Davis Damian Lillard WINNER: Team LeBron All-star MVP: Stephen Curr

11-6 driving

SOOOOOO today I took the SAT. To talk about it briefly, I guessed on some reading questions and also had a huge time crunch (as expected). We booked a hotel for Friday night so I could get good sleep.  So after I finished the SAT, it was time to drive home. Driving for like 1+ hour is something new to me and although it's fun, the highway is really stressful when you enter. In the beginning, there were super tight turns and on top of that everything was downhill. I had to turn off the music because it was that intense. I was so scared because I was moving at like 75 MPH. Super glad I drove this route though because I have a lot of experience now with scenarios like this. But then the craziest thing happened. Useful google chrome extensions

Image
I've had this google keep note for a while. Let's check off this box. Boxel Rebound  - Basically lower quality geometry dash. When clicking the icon it releases a small gameplay window embeded on google chrome meaning you can play the game conveniently on any tab. It's a great extension to have when waiting for something to load or when you don't want to pay attention in class Cloudy Calculator  - As described, this is a very versatile calculator. It has a ton of commands and it has the same convenient popup window embedded in Google Chrome just like boxel rebound. If you want a calculator extension, this is the one. Google Docs Quick Create  - With two buttons, you can create a new google doc instantly rather than going to google drive which sometimes takes a while to load. Alternatively you can type in doc.new as a URL. Stopwatch Tab  - Very simple extension that turns the title of ur tab to a stopwatch. I used to use this all the time for various things like monito

Halloween Spirit Run 2021

Image
2019 -   http://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2019/10/halloween-spirit-run.html It's been two years since I entered a race. I forgot how fun these are.  This one was at alameda fairgrounds instad of downtown, and there were so many more booths and so many more people. When I got there at 8:10(the race started at 8:30), there waws a guy leading the pack of ppl in stretching, but i didnt really care. After waiting for a while, we headed towards the S/F line at around 8:25. There were around 663 racers this year compared to 448 in 2019. The starting/finishing timing chip in your bib was the same from 2019. and 3...2...1...GO MILE 1: I started off by listening to JJ Redick's podcast episode with Gabrielle Union and then after a solid 5 minutes I was legit so bored. That conversation was so stale LOL. So then I went to Thybulle's interview and there was some nice things. Anyway, mile 1 went pretty well. My plan was to go at a comfortable pace the first 4 miles. MILE 2: I think we moved d
