Recruiting Reflection (cut-out version)

Image
Recruiting Reflection (cut-out version) My freshmen year summer was one of a kind. I spent time in 4 continents: USA (5 weeks), Spain (3 weeks), Morocco (1 week), China (3 weeks), I even went to Florida in May. My sister also went studying abroad her freshmen year summer and suggested I do the same because I'm going to be working for the rest of my life, and it's hard enough to get an internship with as little experience I have.  So as I wrapped up my freshmen year summer and I was heading into mid-September and October, the pressure started looming above me. I need to get an internship this summer because apart from the growth I get from it obviously, I know my worth, I know what I deserve, and it's so crucial for me because I'm planning on graduating in 3 years.  This post is what I brand as the "cut-out version" because my sister told me theres some details I shouldn't post on the public blog. So I ended up deleting a lot of bullet points and delet...

getting a summer job

Image
So where do I start. This summer, I'm a graduated high school senior with seriously no obligations and stresses. It's been pretty crazy honestly, just this feeling that I've longed for for so long, for this entire school year. There were so many times, especially when I was studying for multivar, where I was just like... MAN!!!! SET ME FREE FROM THIS!!! Like don't get me wrong, second semester chill definitely had tons of elements of like freedom and zero stress because there really is highly minimal stress, but there would always be something on my mind. My economics teacher would do some wild sh*t, or I would have homework from music theory, or a project that I haven't started.  But yeah, apart from that, that basically left me with the premise of getting a job this summer. I wanted a job specifically in like the food/drink service, excluding boba, or a grocery store service. SO like jamba juice, whole foods, trader joes was super ideal for me. You'll see wh...

Getting my wisdom teeth removed

Image
Hi, today, 8/8/2023, i got my my 4 wisdom teeth removed. theres not much to say, it was just a good time to get them removed as it's mainly inevitable. SO I couldn't eat 8 hours before which gave me bi-opsy vibes from my back stuff, except it mightve been 24 hours for that. I forgot, but either way thats just light work, u just skip breakfast cuz my appointments in the morning. SO my mom and i pulled up at like 8:20, and we were actuALLY LATE, we thought the appt was at 9:00 but it was at 8:00 so they called us while we were on the way and we wwere like "well d*mn lmao" but anyway the operation was really straightforward and pretty fire. I honestly love anesthesia so much. You literally just go to bed so effortlessly and wake up painless. I remember I was so stressed for my bi-opsy for my back last year, but that sht was absolutely NOTHING. Literally i was asleep during everything and woke up in the revoery room. MAN IS THAT THING REVOLUTIONARY. But yeah after the op...

What it means.

It's been 1 year. May 1st, 2022, I went to fitness 19 with my dad and deadlifted, dunno what happened, my dad coached me, but to put things into perspective, that was the ignition to a dark wave in my life. This will be a reflective blog post. From a lens of someone who just ran a 10k at PPIE yesterday smiling, from a lens of someone who goes to the park for 3-5 hours on Saturdays. I lie down underneath the trees at orloff park and reflect sometimes too, but here I will lay out all my emotions formally. The deadlifting wasn't the reason, my back ended up getting infected with a rare disease for someone of my age, called "discitis." Basically the disc in my back was inflammed for whatever reason, from bacteria getting there. This could low immune system or the bacteria seeping in somehow through eczema or other things. It is TRULY a mystery that I will never know. My back really hurt like the day after I deadlifted, but there is no way there is a connection between my...

5 days at the hospital

Image
Thursday. October 6th. I had an appointment with Dr. Policy a spine specialist/surgeon. This was at 8:45 AM, and I was expecting to be back at school before 4th period so I could attend 4th period and ACCESS. But I ended up never returning home that day, staying at a hospital overnight. So, what happened? When I met Policy, he basically said that we need to do things faster. Schedule the back brace fitting faster, and see the infection doctor faster. We discussed discitis, which is what I have. He said that ultimately, two of my spine bones will morph together in the long run and that's going to be what happens. And I do that with the brace. So he moves the brace fitting from next week to literally today which is great. So we do all that stuff, and the guy taking my measurements explains the brace complexities and stuff. So after that, it's time to head back to Pleasanton and to school. Within 3 minutes of our drive, Dr. Policy calls my mom and says that we should go to the...

braces off

http://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-story-of-my-hardshipsrevised.html Reflecting upon this post, I've realized how blissful my life was these past few years. For my eyesight, everything has been pretty average with little problems. For my teeth, I've had to wear rubber bands as this stage of my life closes. The last time I had teeth pulled out was back in 7th grade I think (I'm in 11th grade right now). My age catched up to the pulled-teeth number. ~~~~~~~~~~      Other than slight problems with my eye, I also had big problems with my teeth. My parents spent huge amounts of money on my teeth. Weird fact about me, I memorized the date I got my braces: January 14, 2013 Monday. It was raining, and when I got to school, we were playing heads-up-seven-up. DONT ASK ME WHY I REMEMBER THAT.  ~~~~~~~~~~ From "My story of my hardships," December 10, 2017 March 7, 2022 Monday. This time it's me driving on the highway to the dentist appointment with my mom. I arrive...

The Story of my Hardships(revised)

Original The Story of my Hardships Kindergarten When I visited the eye doctor one average day, my legs swinging above the ground as I sat on a chair, I came out knowing I’d have glasses. The only redeeming factor was a little airplane on the frame of the glasses, but once my glasses were ready, the airplane was gone, along with my excitement. Even though I was the only one in my school with glass in front of my eyes, I convinced myself that it made me look cool. First Grade During recess one hot day my glasses slipped off and next, I heard a crunch. They barely noticed or cared, and I told myself broken glasses made me look cool. Second Grade After my eyes received help, my teeth needed help. After visiting the dentist on just another normal day, with my feet just barely grazing the ground as I sat in another chair, I came out with metal on my messy teeth. Life kept on trying to take my childhood away, and that was something I couldn’t get help for, no matter what the pri...

The first time I felt drunk

I'm the complete opposite of Emerson, who  hates running.  but is good. I'm not that good compared to my friends, but I have seemed to develop a serious love of running. For me, running is a way so stress relieve, brag(cuz people see u run sometimes), exercise, have fun, and feel good afterwards. My best mile is 6:54, which I actually got just recently. However, most of my friends are better, and they make me salty. And if you don't already see me or something, Every morning if you go on the outside of the school you'll see me running around teh school. I usually run around 2 laps every day. Why? My parents drop me off at school pretty early, and for like the first quarter I would go on my chromebook and play games. Then I realized that I could actually run around. That's what I do. Sometimes I grab my friends along and they run with me. Some people call me dumb and stupid for running around the school, something I find unreasonable. When I joined th...

My story of my hardships

Revised version The hardships I faced     I came to life with messy teeth, eczema, and bad vision. Time and effort could be spent to fix all of this. Before I knew it, I had obtained braces in second grade, 12 teeth pulled out, glasses in Kindergarten, headgear in third grade, eye patch in second grade, and a potato phase. All of these have interesting stories. That's why this blog is a perfect way to share them.     I'm still wearing glasses today, in seventh grade. The eye doctor told me in fourth grade that I could wear eye contacts in sixth grade, but it turns out that they're wrong. I had always loved the way I looked without glasses, and so did my family. I don't remember that well about getting my first glasses, but I do remember that my first pair of glasses had a airplane on the glass. It sure did leave a mark on the bottom left corner of wherever I looked, but I thought it was super cool. I had to change glasses annually from then on, and I remembe...

My story of AoPS(part 3)

Image
First of all, I was said that I was too dramatic in part two. Whatever. Here I am in the environment where I feel like I had failed. As if fail wasn't strong enough. I was struggling on my NT homework. Barely making it through every week. Having my sister constantly reminding me put more pressure. More pressure that I forgot to study for MATHCOUNTS. And the result was bad. Very bad. Very very very bad. I had done decent on the first test, but not on the second. I don't have a single trophy. Not. Even. One. I think about this every single day. I won a very small math contest? I achieve a medal. I win a science season project? My parents acted like winning was a piece of cake and all I got was a prism. All through my life there were chances where I thought that I would win a trophy, but I didn't. Although I had won a small math contest, I felt very sick inside. Slamming my fist on my pillow when sleeping. I'm telling you, it's hard to be constantly learning I...

My rubiks cube story.

My Rubik's cube story     The way my Rubik's cube story started was actually quite weird. It started in 4th grade, when I was in speech class. Speech class was for people who couldn't pronounce correctly. I couldn't pronounce the R's correctly. Speech class was fun. Every time we practiced at home, we would get stamps, and stamps added up to prizes. We played a lot of games in speech class, and it was really fun. Enough about speech class. One time, I practiced an enough amount of days, that I could get a prize! Looking through the prizes, I didn't know what to get. Because all of the prizes were pretty repetitive. I have almost gotten all of the types of prizes, except for one: The Rubik's cube.       I decided to choose it. Because I thought it would be interesting. After I got it, I showed my friends, and this person named Ishayu knew how to solve it. I was so fascinated on how he could solve it. I thought it was impossible. That night, I looked up ...
