Spotify Wrapped 2024

 

Here we go into reviewing our Spotify Wrapped 2024! It came out fairly late compared to other years and spoiler alert IT SUCKS THIS YEAR it just feels so mainstream and corporate. I remember previous years they would have so many random goofy segments showcasing what type of listener you are or like what colors your music listening represents and random miscellaneous ideas like who tf comes up with these random slides but I thought it was so random but now that we're missing so much of it I finally appreciate it.

Also, yeah like all of my blog posts recently have been music-related which I will try to promise to switch up I have a lot of other posts in the drafts that are ready to be cooked up after my finals ends.

Here we go with 80k minutes this year which is really high because I spent like my entire summer traveling and not listening to much music. Though on airplanes and train rides I had headphones in a lot so maybe it didn't dip too much because of that. We can dig into that when I review last.year, but yeah it's a lot of music listening because 2023 I had 73k, 2022 I had 60k, and 2021 I had 89k. So this is my 2nd most minutes. A lot of other people have like 100k+ which is like insane thats way too much I thought I had a lot like how do your ears not know how to breathe or do you not appreciate silence once in a while anyway

AND BANG OUR TOP SONG IS VAANCE, DEEROCK, AND LINNEY BEING WITH YOU which makes sense, there wasn't any clear track that blew any others out of the water. But "Being With You" is definitely a core track of my 2024, it's just so versatile and I find it so hard to skip because the hook in that prechorus is so catchy, the progression into that future house drop is fantastic, Linney's vocals are great, and it's just so replayable. This spotlight with Vaance beating out Porter or Madeon is a pretty high standard to beat. This song came out in 2021 and I discovered it in late January 30 2023 actually and it's been through my OC's ever since and I dont see it stopping I'm actually kinda interested on why I only started kickstarting it this year. I think it's just been super steady throughout these 2 years that I discovered it and stuff.

And here's my top 5 songs which I'm pretty sure is all super close to each other in terms of streams bc i checked on last.fm like last week. I also feel like this is fradulent cuz I had to have streamed Musician more, lets check right now actually: 

yea see this is a scam I literally streamed musician so much theres no way its not in my top 5. But it's all super close so its whatever, notice that Intentions isnt even in the top 10 LMAO yea maybe its also because their date range stops earlier but theres no way intentions is my #3 over musician and everything. That tracks fire tho.

And then they did these months thing which was cool I only took 1 screenshot tho cuz i didnt really care

And then we got Taylor Swift dominating with the #1 artist spot no question I streamed taylor so much this year. I got into her November 2023 and have been a Swiftie ever since lmao aside from listening to my regular EDM i'll also loop through my taylor swift playlist so that saturates so much of my statistics with taylor swift, rightfully so though. I also listen to her whenever I'm driving with my mom in the city or going to college so yeah safe to say I streamed her like A LOT 

And here's my top 5 artists, I'm pretty satisfied with this compared to my top 5 songs, this is a good top 5. Those top 3 I already knew were gonna be my top 3 then 4 and 5 can go to VR, duumu, madeon, owl city, vaance, zedd, NOTD. VR making that #4 spot is sick cuz Stealing Fire was great and definitely a core album that makes up this 2024 era.

And then just like that we're done 😂😂😂😂😂 nah thats actually crazy dude look at how plain this card is like you cut off the top half and its just a blue color with basic font this is actually horrible. The text is so small too and like there's just this sad void in that bottom right region that just makes this card so horrible like you couldnt put top music genre in that spot bro thats insane

Yeah like this summary card exactly shows what I mean, this is the saddest visual ever I could cook up a better graphic design on canva and adobe this is just way too plain its so sad it literally looks like a knockoff it looks like Youtube music ending card 😂

And taht caps off my 2024 spotify wrapped review I'm not gonna summarize anything cuz theres nothing to summarize and also cuz spotify wrapped couldnt summarize my music properly. What a horrible wrapped the more I look at it like they basically did the bare minimum lets be real. I'll be looking forward to last.year though that report is so sick there's a lot of statistics just not as interactive as wrapped has become. Imma def take last.year seriously cuz what type of show did spotify put on lmao bro that summary card is actually horrendous this is like a multi-billion company or something. Im taking geoguessr and IKEA over spotify when it comes to Swedish industrial stuff
