4 nights in 成都 (ChengDu, China)

Image
So this summer has another China trip, where I took my finals early so I could have as much time as I could. Me and my sister basically have 2 weeks there after factoring out travel days, which is honestly enough time, as 3 weeks last year felt a bit long though I am not complaining I definitely prefer 3 weeks over 2 weeks. However, with 2 weeks in Hohhot, our hometown, I was NOT EXPECTING my sister to just message me this randomly while cramming and studying for my early finals: I'm going to ChengDu, SiChuan, China, along with my sister without my mom or any relatives, where I did not agree to it. I've dreamed of going to ChongQing for so long it is pretty high up there in the bucket list and ChengDu is probably 2nd place right after it, so obviously I want to go but at first bro I was so confused and I was not supportive because of how cooked it is just us 2 going to ChengDu like our reading skills are pretty mid and were so cooked like we are foreigners u need to have some...

2024-25 NBA Season

Image
This blog started off as a big basketball blog, hence the name cavs4tw. I used to post like random stuff about cavs games that I watched or playoff games and stuff. But lately I've been posting less basketball stuff, as this season I haven't even posted anything about NBA actually.  But I think it's necessary to write a post about this NBA season as it was pretty memorable and just to reflect over my cavs because I still have been following and watching NBA a lot. I tweet about it a lot actually. But anyway my cavs will win the NBA championship no doubt, this was honestly our season to win it but we frauded out so bad man I'll get into it but well win the chip so thats whats motivating me to write this post. What a memorable season. We started off 15-0 under our new headcoach, and also fresh off playoff heartbreak. Things were clicking and I saw our success coming because our previous head coach bickerstaff was a terrorist he was a big reason why we did bad in the play...

year 2, winter quarter at UCSC

Image
freshmen, fall freshmen, winter freshmen, spring sophomore, fall Here we are writing my year 2 winter quarter post, this quarter literally flew by and honestly not much happened. It's actually crazy how chilled out this quarter was, let's talk about that! Living off-campus Not much to talk about here that I haven't already gone over. I'm like settled in now and everything, like honestly everything is the same im trying to reflect on anything and like the overall update is that there's no update that's kinda the theme of this whole blog post too 💀. I have been going to play basketball a lot more this quarter like 2-3x a week consistently and the runs have been pretty good and ive met a lot of ppl thru it. My confidence is honestly not that good in the full court runs like bro I sometimes miss open layups for no reason but ive also had some highlight plays like some great help defense where i steal the ball or some floaters and jumpers. I also go on runs quite ...

first ever hackathon, cruzhacks

Image
So this weekend hosted by UCSC's CruzHacks, my team attended CruzHacks 2025. It was a really fun experience where going into it I didn't know what to expect. This really isn't my niche, as when it comes to coding I'm mainly an expert on the algorithms & data structures aka competitive programming. It involves solving algorithmic problems, writing solutions, optimizing them for the time constraints and test cases, and a lot of practice and studying and preparation. And so it's quite different and quite sweaty, and it was really cool to experience these hackathons which is this different side of programming. ICPC stuff and the performance is also way more measurable than hackathons, where theres a lot more creativity and flexibility involved. Surprisingly this is my first ever hackathon, despite almost like every cs kid doing one in high school and stuff.   Our team was me, my housemate named evan, and a friend named austin. We didnt have a 4th. The venue was th...
