2024-25 NBA Season

This blog started off as a big basketball blog, hence the name cavs4tw. I used to post like random stuff about cavs games that I watched or playoff games and stuff. But lately I've been posting less basketball stuff, as this season I haven't even posted anything about NBA actually.

But I think it's necessary to write a post about this NBA season as it was pretty memorable and just to reflect over my cavs because I still have been following and watching NBA a lot. I tweet about it a lot actually. But anyway my cavs will win the NBA championship no doubt, this was honestly our season to win it but we frauded out so bad man I'll get into it but well win the chip so thats whats motivating me to write this post.

What a memorable season. We started off 15-0 under our new headcoach, and also fresh off playoff heartbreak. Things were clicking and I saw our success coming because our previous head coach bickerstaff was a terrorist he was a big reason why we did bad in the playoffs last year. Also kenny atkinson coached jarett allen when he was head coach on the nets so I knew he was gonna unlock jarett allen and I made sure to draft him on my fantasy lmao. Mobley also made a huge leap and Garland went back to his all-star form.

Then in December Max Strus came back from injury, we were still doing rly good, then in like February trade deadline we made a big move to trade niang and levert for deandre hunter and picking up javonte green off the waivers. This was to prepare for better wing defenders, aka the boston celtics in the playoffs. I intially didn't like it because I thought our group was clicking and I thought hunter was a ballhog. But at the same time Niang was kinda hit or miss like he makes some nice threes but overall hes kinda mid and i dont mind trading him away lmao. During this point of the season Ty Jerome also started breaking out he was insane like hes like tj mcconell type of 6th man point guard but so efficient with his floaters and really accurate 3 pt shooter.

We had a huge winning streak after the allstar break too and Hunter started playing really well, so did Ty Jerome. Merill also started becoming more relevant in our rotation which was unexpected as I always thought he was some mid but Okoro started falling off and all of a sudden I'm trusting Merill more than Okoro. Like Okoro was actually so bad after he had some ankle injury in January and missed some weeks.

We ended the season with the 1st seed convincingly, and we were beating good teams too like we came back aginst Boston down like 20+ in the 1q, Garland had a huge gamewinner against Detroit that I watched live in my apartment with my friend, Mitchell had a huge gamewinner against Milwaukee early in the season to keep our win-streak alive, we beat the OKC Thunder and ended up being the only team in the East to beat them in the season. Our reslience was rly showing and I had no reason not to think that were winning the chip. We had All-Star starter, All-NBA 1st team Donovan Mitchell, All Star + DPOY + All-NBA 2nd team Evan Mobley, All Star Garland, 6MOY3 Ty Jerome, and then All Star Snub + FG% season champion Jarett Allen, and 6MOY4 Deandre Hunter, and then u add in Max Strus, Dean Wade, Merill, Okoro, Craig Porter Jr. Our core 4 is just so good and so versatile and we were getting so much respect from the league and dude it was just some of the most fun basketball I've witnessed. I was tuning into every cavs game because we were so fun to watch and we were so good it's so fun when ur team is just so dominant like this. And Mitchell was getting low usage and low minutes and he didnt need to be scoring 25+, sometimes hed be scoring like 15 pts and we take the lead. Atkinson ran a wide rotation and our players got a lot of rest. I was so confident I put them winning the chip easily I had them like winning every series in 4 or 5 games in my predictions im pretty sure.

So now let's move on to the playoffs, we face the Heat in the play-in and yea we swept them very convincingly like I predicted. I remember after games 1 and 2 I was a bit nervous cuz Garland was trash talking Tyler Herro in the post-game interview saying our gameplan was to pick on him. I was scared that might fire the Heat up and you know what they say, the series really starts once someone wins a game on the road.

But turns out Garland had some toe sprain and he didnt play in game 3 I think and that made us beat them even more bad, we blew them out in game 3 and then we like destroyed them by 60 in game 4 it was so embarassing lmao. We almost broke the playoff win margin record in garbage time.

And so we move on to the 2nd round against the Pacers. At this point I wasn't nervous at all we are a title contender and all season long I'm just worried about Boston. The playoffs really start and I really begin to get super nervous once we play Boston because they have championship DNA and theyre super deep and stacked and they have Jrue Holiday who is the definition of a championship player. Anyway no disrepect to Indiana like I was mildy stressed but like bro were levels above this team I think they will prepare us and ease us into Boston cuz theyre a tougher opponent than the Heat and will make us lock in more or something.

Ok anyway yea so thats what I was thinking but Pacers steal game 1 on the road. Then Hunter gets injured and Mobley gets injured that game so were cooked for game 2 but with our depleted roster Mitchell has like 40+ and were up like 10 against the Pacers and I'm feeling really happy again and really confident like this is a huge win but then something happens and I dont want to talk about it like I legit am not gonna talk about it it's legit trauma bro I'm not even trolling bro like its legit trauma dude like bro I don't even wanna make thsi post anymore just thinking about it.

Game 3 we get all our guys including garalnd who was still injured from his toe sprain back. We win, then game 4 we lose or something then game 5 I watched that one we were down like 10+ the entire game we made some nice runs but like dude our team was just frauding out so bad.

Evan Mobley = disappointment
Jarett Allen = disappointment
DeAndre Hunter = big disappointment
Max Strus = disappointment
Dean Wade = big disappointment
Ty Jerome = disappointment

Only guy who I wasn'nt disappointed with was Mitchell he legit turned into playoff Mitchell and averaged 30+ and like dude this wasnt ouru same regular season team like Mitchell does not have to be going hero mode in order for us to win these games where was his help. I have such high expectations for Mobley like I have skyhigh expectations for Mobley and like something was just off with him like dude our roster just frauded out.

I'm not even gonna say much else cuz its just gonna make me sad like its honestly like heartbreak like I can talk so much more about the cavs and how disappointed I am but imma justu be sad and ive wrote enough like dude this is not how our season is supposed to end this was supposed to be our year like why couldnt it be our year the east is wide open we woudlve so easily beat the ny knicks in the conference finals bruh this hurts.

Alright so now it's time to press publish on this post. Its currently like May 30, Friday, 1 AM as I'm writing this post I just finished a midterm so I'm like yea I needa get a post in for this month and I should write about the cavs and this season. Currently the Thunder made the finals and the Pacers are up 3-2 against the Knicks and I could see the Knicks forcing a game7 but either way I still have the Pacers winning the series.

Pacers vs. Thunder finals is pretty disappointing like who wouldve thought but anyway its the best offense vs. the best defense and I have the best defense winning the chip like the Thunder are just too strong and I coudl see them breaking down that Pacers ball mvoement. Like if youw atch them they really do get so mnay steals and they have Caruso. I have like Thunder in 6 honestly. Bro but I need to talk about Knicks vs. Pacer ecf game 1 that is one of the most insane games I've ever watched. I don't think I've ever seen someone do what Nesmith do he legit made like 7 threes in a row I was legit about to turn my stream off that was so easily Knicks win that game. And then Hali with that bounce like that whole game feels so scripted that ending in regulation was so scripted and cured a lot of my cavs trauma with the Pacers because bro it can not be worse than what I just saw in that game 1. That was atrocious absolutely insane ending like if ure a knicks fan that is so traumatic bro. What an insane game that was a really good game theres so much to talk about with that game like bro anunoby choked so bad and so did a lot of players on the knicks bro, made me feel a lot better like now everyone will remember that game more than that game 2 though that hali three pointer on ty jerome will still have its clout. sigh like i legit just cant even think about that like thats so cringe bro alr bro im done with this yappathon this writers block. You see I couldve went series to series and talked about each series this playoffs but then this post would be like 10x as long lmao and I dont have the capacity to keep that up too lowkey alr yea.
