SYB 2019

(NOTE  YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T READ THIS BECAUSE IT"S REALLY BORING I"M JUST WRITING THIS CUZ IM IN A BLOCK RIGHT NOW.)

The actual basketball classes I'm doing over the summer is SYB, and I only do it for the scrimmages and friends.

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-10, grades 7-12 will play basketball. There are around 25-35 people in our session which is great when splitting us up into scrimmages.

There are some people you know but I'm going to not reveal their names.

They split us up into high school and middle school, but some middle schoolers just go to the high school section because they're too good.

Here are people who go there:

BOB: 8th grader. Asian and great at finishing. Fantastic at shooting but can't really shoot when it comes to scrimmages. Plays hard and intense defense. Short point guard
BILL: 9th grader. My friend who's tall and can shoot the three. He can play any position and is incredibly fast and can run a fast break well. Sometimes cannot finish layups but otherwise one of the best players.
JOE: 9th grader. Short guard who is incredible at finishing and shooting. Loud, emotional, greedy, and sometimes very dumb. However, he's great at basketball.
BILLYBOB: 9th grader. Basically shaquille o'neal. He is so dominant and impossible to guard. He can storm past a defense and finish. He sometimes misses his layups but is tall and can easily get his own rebound. For me, the only way I guard him is through fouling.
JOEY: 8th grader. BILLYBOB but can sometimes shoot the midrange. Joey and Billybob showdowns are so fun to watch as these two dominant forces battle out.
BOBBY: 10th grader or something. Indian. Inconsistent but can shoot the three along with rebounding. Very tall and is someone I have seen at the park a lot. He's a friend of mine.
BILLY: Pretty trash 9th grade Indian kid with glasses. Can shoot but is kinda weak.
JOEYBOBBY: 9th grader. Shooter. Short. Kinda bad at defense, can finish, but is great at shooting.
BILLYJOEY: 9th grader. White. tryhard hair. BALLHOG COMPLETE BALLHOG. Annoying, pathetic, but can actually ball sometimes. I've seen him nutmeg and make crazy shots. Not a shooter though so he's really easy to guard.

Ok they're all the notable people.

Our black coach is someone I respect. Can hype us up but uh a little overenergetic. YOu can sometimes see his spit fall out when he's screaming "LET'S DO THIS." I legitimately thought he was on something during the first session.

This is what the 1 hr sessions normally look like.

9-9:05=Pep talk, 2-lap full court run, suicide 2 times.
9:05-9:15=3 man weave for like a minute the we move on to 3 on 2 2 on 1.
9:15-9:35=Shooting. Team captains pick teams for both shooting and the scrimmage. First to 10 shots through the rim gets to watch the other side do push ups. The shooting drill is from elbows then threes.
9:35-10:00=Scrimmage!
10:00-end=HERO. WHO WANNA BE THE HERO. Coach picks someone to shoot a free throw, and if he misses then everyone has to run back and forth. Class ends when someone makes a free throw.

So yeah. I've got to know some people.

Here's some stuff that happened.

7/2=On my second attempt, I finally made the free throw that stopped pepole from running.

WHO CAME WHEN THE NIGHT WAS DARKK?

WILSON

ok I'll stop now.

7/11=CRAZY SCRIMMAGE. The teams were

MY TEAM:

Me
Billy
Bobby
Billybob
BillyJoey
Joeybobby

We originally thought it was a definite loss because the force of Bob, Bill, and Joe would bring so much threat everywhere because of their shooting. But of course, people were inconsistent because it was kid basketball.

We started off with a steady lead, as Billybob got many offensive rebounds off of Bobby's misses and finished. Joeybobby put up some shots, and I even got two nice shots that went through from around the free throw range. We had a lead of around 8 points before Joe started some fast breaks and Bill began to become aggressive. All of a sudden we were only leading by two points. A weak side screen made me visible and I literally could've make an elbow jumper but the ball was in BillyJoey's hands, who decided to ballhog and take an impossible shot. Could've sealed the game smh.

With 30 seconds remaining, a pick and roll lead Bill to a wide open layup to create a game winner.

The game was tied, and I asked for the ball because BillyJoey was just gonna throw the ball away.

Then he somehow spun around on the left side and banked in a miracle shot that led us to win. Five seconds on the clock. Bill missed a half court and we survived and won this one.

Joe is emotional as I stole the ball twice from him and he missed all his three point attempts along with a fast break layup that I contested well. He can't finish left so it's easy to guard him. His pass to Bill in the potential game sealer was a miracle, but that buzzer beater scored on his face made him so angry during hero time Joe was sitting on the bench and slapping it. It brought attention and his teammates told me that he was just relaly angry.

IT WAS A CASUAL SCRIMMAGE GAME. Man if this guy loses a streetball intense game I can't imagine the scene.

Jeez like everyone was kinda staring at him and he refused to run. Instant karma as the airpods holder had bragged before and is incredibly cocky.

7/23=

SCRIMMAGE:

Alright the teams were:

Me
BILLYBOB
BILLY
BOBBY

JOEYBOBBY
BILL
JOEY

With some other people that are bad lol

In the beginning I had a great Euro step fast break layup and assisted on a three pointer made by Bobby. Billybob also made a lot of points and we were leading by probably fifteen points. Then..

Joey twists his ankle, and I GO TO THE OTHER TEAM. I WORKED SO HARD XD

So now I hit a jumper, assist on two three pointers, assist on a layup, and two steals on these two bad people.

We were winning by two points now.

I was going tryhard Rajan Rondo mode where I literally would drive and kick. Then Billybob scored and the game was tied.

With around 26 seconds left I went for a three and it was just too strong. I immediately went for the rebound took a look at the clock showcasing 11 seconds left, dribbled and cleared it out, passed it to JoeyBobby.

He missed a three and the game was tied.

I could've made a buzzer beater aeraueheiruawhr

7/25=Last session.

We combined with the eighth graders for four teams of 5-6 people. Two courts meaning king of the court!

here were the teams.

YELLOW:

ME
Billybob
Some random eighth grade white kid that could shoot and was pretty good. JONNYBOBBY
Really short Mexican kid who had a great attitude. JONNY

RED:
Bill
four other pretty bad people

NO SHIRT #1
UBA(not his real name xd) Knockdown sniper. Great at shooting. Eighth grader
BOBBY BILLY
Joey

NO SHIRT #2
Billy
Joe
JoeyBobby

The king court at the start was Red vs. No shirt #2

SO GAME #1

YELLOW VS NO SHIRT #1

Started off hitting an elbow jumper. Joey responded but ultimately Billybob outrebounded and I got some great looks. Ended up hitting four mid-rangers along with an assist on JonnyBobby. Also took 7 shots. Blowout win for us.

GAME #2

YELLOW VS NOSHIRT #2

They wree really good with there two man action. Blowout loss in which I did make one mid-range which ended up being two of our six total points. I had a block though.

GAME #3

YELLOW VS RED

Since Red hasn't won a game yet, this should be an easy one.

I started off challenging Bill to a three pointer in which he swished. Not a good look for our team. I tried to respond with my three pointer but it was an airball.

Next possession somehow someone turned it over, and then Bill challenged me to a three. I took it and in it went.

It ended up being a blowout win in which I scored 12 points. I had a 1v1 fast break against Bill in which I dribbled it past Bill(he plays soccer) caught it, and finished.

I also made another three pointer. 2 for 3!

The last four points were from a fast break layup caused by a steal by me and a mid-range elbow jumper.

My final field goal was 5/9 which is really good.

GAME #4

YELLOOW VS NO SHIRT #2

Last time it was a blowout loss. This game I immediately drove hard on the left and took a fade away in which I sunk. Joe responded by literally draining a pull-up three. I took an elbow jumper, missed, someone tapped it to me in which I made a very hard one-hand sideways hook shot.

Then Joe literally just pulled up again and made another three.

I then drove in on the right off of a screen, kicked it out to Jonny who literally made a three. I cheered him on and the smile from him was too good.

Then Joe made back to back to back threes. -_-

We were down by two points. I subbed out because I haven't subbed out so far and during the period we choked and it ended up being a blowout loss. I did make a reverse layup and made a last second push in which we were down eight but oculdn't win.

Then it's time for hero time.

THREE POINTERS SINCE IT'S THE LAST TIME.

First shot was UBA. Hecka sniper. He made two free throws during hero time in back to back weeks, but I don't know why I have a gut feeling that he's going to miss it. It was the same gut feeling in #13 of this post, and my gut feeling is always correct.

Uba's accuracy was spot on, but his arc is so flat that it bricked.

Second shot went to this random fat white eighth grader who couldn't even hit the rim.

Third shot I decided to try it.

REASONS WHY I TOOK THE SHOT:

  1. I always want to make my last shot, and I missed a jumper in the last scrimmage and couldn't get up a made layup, so this was my opportunity
  2. It's the last session, and I wanna be brave
  3. I believe that I have worked hard enough to have an expected percentage on three pointers.
  4. Everyone else who raised their hands were scrubs and I didn't want to run anymore
  5. I was confident.

I went up, took a dribble, and forgot to take a deep breath.

I lined up my hot spot on the three point line, which is a little bit to the right of a perfect straight line.

I rose, lifted, let go, let it fly, watch it fly, and...

BANG.

The shot bankshotted...

xD

Well uhh

I hit the three, that's what matters.

So for the last SYB practice, I made the last shot, which was a three pointer. I was hecka happy. We also got free balls.

I truly did love the coach. He legitimately hyped us up so hard and I improved so much. He's such a great coach.
