Class of 2023 Prom

Yesterday, 3/5/22 was Junior Prom for my school. I had high expectations coming into it...it was like 130 dollars.

After heading to a park to take photos, we arrived at the school at around 4:30 and begin waiting in line for buses. We had to go through the Q building to verify our registration and afterwards, they begin counting groups of 30 people or something from the line to split between the buses which was kind of stressful since I coudl be split apart from my friends. Thankfully, that wasn't the case.

On the bus, our chaperone told us to remember our bus name(ours was naple or something). We also had to write our name on a seating chart and the chaperone passed around hershey kisses which was super nice. I snagged two of the cookie and creme flavors.

During the bus ride, I played two player games with bog a couple of times. They also started playing some pop music(eg.= 24k magic, baby by JB, bad and boujee or whatever), and this guy named Mason got control over the bus mic so he started singing along with the music, at one point he was like "I DONT HEAR ENOUGH NOISE." Absolutely BOSS move from mason right there.

Excuse the the writing from my computer mouse. This was basically what the prom layout looked like.

So there were places to go inside and places to go outside. It may seem that there were lots of things to do, but really, there was nothing to do.

Everyone first ate dinner, which was a buffet with chips and guac, chicken nuggets, and burger sliders. There was also ham and cheese sandwiches. Great food for a formal dinner experience at prom! They also had a station for desserts, such as brownie cupcakes, cookies, and more cookies. There was also a station where they served drinks where most people got the shirley temple(the other option was sprite and coke I think??). I was actually really hyped that they served shirley temple because I haven't had it in a while and I remember I had a rly good impression of it the first time I had it in a restaurant.

Afterwards, the entire 4 hours or something(i wasn't keeping track of time) was basically just my friends and I wandering around, spending small chunks of time sitting down in the dinner area, killing time trying to pretend we're having fun in the mosh pit, and exploring everything else.

Let's break down everything that Prom had to offer.
  1. The mosh pit
    1. As the main attraction, the DJ they offered couldnt have done a worse job. At times, he played the worst songs imaginable such as breathy female vocal songs that I don't even recognize or rap music that no one knew. It was probably pulled from soundcloud or something, no one knew what it was. They played a song called "fergalicious by fergie" which pretty much sums up the all-time low of this experience.
    2. Other times, they played starships by nicki minaj or a rap song that I LITERALLY FORGOT. I remember it was a super catchy rap song that everyone could vibe to. Either way, only like 20% of the songs were actually good.
  2. Silent Disco. At the end of the dock was a silent disco DJ and a table with a bunch of headphones. It was pretty similar to your typical silent disco. There were three channels. We checked it out once in a while and the best they played was Calvin Harris. This silent disco didn't attract a crowd of people dancing on the dancefloor at all. People just took the headphones and sat down in the dinner area.
  3. There was also a side of the venue where there were like 5 stations that had various casino-like games. There was blackjack and poker and this one dice rolling game. There was also a "dance dance" machine thing too that was semi-cool.
  4. There was mariokart, which was pretty cool and fun.
  5. Additionally, there was a really cool live-action video area thing outside that I can't really describe. Basically, you stand on a podium and they have this camera and light that whirls around you, and when they put the video in slow-motion, it's a very cool product.
  6. Between the entrance and the outdoor activities was the photo booth. It was a fairly standard photo booth.

A random photo from the doc. That box thing with the pink lights is where the "live-action video" thing is. It's actually pretty cool. I would show the results I got if it didn't have a face reveal in it.

Also a fireplace.

That's the place that they have all the drinks and stuff.

Walking back to the buses after prom

And those are all the photos that I took.
Was this worth it? No.
Do I regret it? No.
Let's hope the senior ball thing is more fun. Many say that's the case.

I'm made out of stones
Since you've been gone
Hope, I'm wasted and hopeless
